A: Lately, I’ve been staying up late at night to

finalize many documents.

C: Why? Are you working to a tight deadline?

A: Well, this month is the end of the fiscal year

for companies in Japan, so I’m really swamped

with a mountain of paperwork.

C: I guess you’re still in front of your laptop

at dead of night trying to finish everything

before the deadline.

A: I’ve transformed into a nocturnal person hahaha.

C: I appreciate that you still find time to attend

our classes. I guess it can’t be helped

since you have a lot to finish but I hope

you still get enough rest.

A: Thank you very much!

C: Speaking of nocturnal, you already know

that’s what you call creatures that are active

at night. How about those that are active

during the day?

A: Normal people?

(Chan and Amaya laugh)

C: Good guess. We actually call them “diurnal”.

It came from the Latin word “diumus” which means day.

A: I see. That’s why it’s diurnal.

C: Aside from those two, have you ever heard of

the word “crepuscular”?

A: Crepuscular? Hmmm
 I’ve never heard of that word before.

　What does it mean?

C: It’s also related to diurnal and nocturnal. If diurnal

are those active during the day, and nocturnal are those

active during the night, crepuscular creatures are those

that are active during the twilight.

A: I see. So we have diurnal, nocturnal, and crepuscular.

I need to be all of those so I can finish all the paperwork

before the deadline hahahaha

C: いい掚枬ですね。実際には「昌行性」ず呌んでいるんだ。

　 これはラテン語の "日 "を意味する "diumusから来おるんだ。

A: なるほど。だから昌行性なんだね。

C: それはさおおき、"crepuscular "ずいう蚀葉を聞いたこずが

　 ある

A: クレプスキュラヌうヌん、聞いたこずがない蚀葉ですね。

　 どういう意味なの

C: これも昌行性ず倜行性にも関係があるんだよ。日䞭掻動する

　 ものが昌行性で、倜掻動するのが倜行性だず、

　 薄明薄暮性は、薄明薄暮時に掻動する生物だよ。

A: なるほど。昌行性、倜行性、薄明薄暮性があるのね。
