(in a restaurant)
Y: It’s nice to finally have time to chill out after a long, hard week!
T: I agree! It has been hell in the office since all the deadlines
were threatening to fire us if we didn’t finish them.
Y: You can say that again. I was so scared that we would all
end up staying awake for 24 hours straight to finish all the reports.
T: Well, before you got hired in the company, we almost had to do that
once.
Y: No kidding?
T: No doubt about it. There was a huge mishap in liquidating the
expenses
in certain transactions, and we were all over
the place looking for any missing receipts .
Y: I can’t even imagine how much trouble you’ve gone through.
T. In the end, I found the last two missing receipts in the pantry.
(a waiter serves their food)
Y: How did you find them?
T: Oh, it was so easy. I got so stressed and decided to fix myself
a cup of coffee, and while I was looking for the cream and sugar,
I stumbled across the receipts in the cupboard.
Y: Wow, you sure found them hands down!
T: After all the trouble of looking, everyone felt so relieved that we
could finally rest.
Y: I wonder how those receipts ended up in the cupboard.
T: Well, it’s either someone intentionally put them there
or someone got a cup of coffee and totally forgot about them.
Y: I’d rather go with the latter than the former.
It’s much better if you aren't suspicious of any of your colleagues.
T: Right. Anyway, we’d better eat. Our food’s getting cold.
Y: That’s exactly what I was thinking of!

Y: やっとゆっくりできるね。長くて大変な一週間だったな〜！
T: ほんとそれ！締め切り続きで、終わらなかったら
クビになるんじゃないかってくらい会社が大変だったよ。
Y: ほんとにね。みんなで24時間ぶっ通しでレポート
仕上げることになるんじゃないかってヒヤヒヤしてたよ。
T: 実は、君が入社する前に本当にそんなことになりかけたことがあったんだよ。
Y: えっ、本当に！？
T: もちろん。ある取引の経費精算で大きなミスがあってさ、
なくなった領収書をみんなであっちこっち探し回ってたんだ。
Y: それは大変だったね…。想像もつかないよ。
T: 最後はね、なくなってた最後の2枚の領収書を給湯室で見つけたんだ。
（ウェイターが料理を運んでくる）
Y: えっ、どうやって見つけたの？
T: いや、それがね。ストレスでコーヒーでも飲もうと思って、
砂糖とミルクを探してたら、食器棚の中に領収書が
入ってるのをたまたま見つけたんだよ。
Y: すごいじゃん！よく見つけたね！
T: あれだけ探し回った後だったから、みんな本当にホッとしてやっと安心できたよ。
Y: でも、なんで領収書が食器棚なんかにあったんだろうね。
T: わざと誰かが入れたのか、それともコーヒーを
淹れた人がうっかり置きっぱなしにしちゃったのか、
そのどっちかだろうね。
Y: 私は後者だと思いたいな。会社の人を疑うのは嫌だし。
T: そうだね。まあ、とりあえず食べようよ。料理が冷めちゃう。
Y: ちょうど同じこと考えてた！
