(Association of Filipino Students in Japan)で、情報・広報担当副会長(Executive Committee Vice President for Information and Communication)を務めています。

My journey to Japan, however, started long before my arrival. Growing up, I developed a deep love for Japanese culture and language through anime, my favorites being Naruto and Black Clover, which eventually led me to study Japanese during my undergraduate years. I then studied it again for half a year before coming to Japan, and continued for another year here while studying as a research student. Despite spending almost two years studying it across different periods, I still find it difficult which keeps me going.
I am currently pursuing my master's degree in Nutrition Sciences under the Nutrition Ecology
Laboratory, where my research focuses on nutrition misinformation on social media. Outside of
research, I also dedicate time to the Association of Filipino Students in Japan, where I serve as
Executive Committee Vice President for Information and Communication. In this role, I focus on
social media marketing, graphic design, and public relations, all on a voluntary basis, simply
because I believe in the cause. This kind of service isn't new to me, back in college, I spent my free time actively involved in multiple organizations, and it's something I genuinely find fulfilling.
Before all of this, I was a former Philippine national athlete in swimming. I started competing in 5th grade with butterfly as my main stroke, specializing in long-distance events. I swam competitively until my second year of college, during which time I also coached part-time in senior high school before eventually stepping into a head coaching role after retiring from competition.
My hobbies keep me grounded amid all the busyness: photography, arts and crafts, and graphic
design are things I always find my way back to. And back home in the Philippines, I have 13 cats keeping my family company Rambo, Lucy, Abu, Apple, Ango, Baskey, Brey, Blackjack, Bash, Cleo, Chinky, Cindy, and Charlie. They are, without a doubt, one of my greatest sources of joy from afar.
And I'm so excited to be one of the GVs here at DCEC. Learning a language can feel daunting at times, but I truly believe that every conversation, no matter how small, is a step forward. I can't wait to learn from each of you, hear your stories, and grow together. See you in class!
