Characteristics of Dela Cruz

lobby of Dela Cruz

Let us speak English as if we are in a foreign country and enjoy it at DCEC, where the ambiance is conducive for learning and for stimulating English conversations.

Our English instructors carry the title of "Governess" or "Governor." A governess is an accomplished tutor who lived with wealthy families in Europe, particularly in Britain, to take charge of the education of youngsters within the home.

In our club, our governesses and governors are both tutors and friends to our learners.

"Let's enjoy English Together!"
One way to enjoy learning English is to join fun events and activities.

At DCEC, we hold many events including fancy dress parties, Halloween and Christmas parties, where both young and old alike relive their childhood days. You will surely enjoy these activities:

  • Holiday Events (New Year, Valentines, Halloween, Christmas)
  • Outdoor Activities (at a cafe, restaurant, park, etc.)

Let's speak up! What is important is we keep on using English in familiar situations until we get accustomed to it. Indeed, without continuous study and speaking practice, improving one's English skills will take longer than desired.

The DCEC method. Our method
is based on the process of how children acquired words. They begin to speak or utter words or phrases by mimicking what their parents say. Do not be disheartened if you cannot speak fluent English right away as it is natural for language learners to struggle in the beginning. You can make some gestures to help you get your message across or listen actively to somehow get the intended message. If you have traveled overseas, you must have experienced being spoken to in Japanese by souvenir shopkeepers. Although they may have spoken only functional Japanese, they were able to communicate with you in the best possible way and perhaps convinced you to buy.

A language must be used for mutual understanding. At Dela Cruz English Club, our primary aim is for learners to "Speak in English" rather than to study the language structure and achieve perfect grammar. Grammatical and spelling mistakes are common for beginners, therefore, we strive to build their vocabulary and focus on speaking practice and attentive listening. Gradually, the learner gains confidence and fast tracks his/her English communication skills to a level that he/she desires.
