We periodically check and monitor the development of our learners at DCEC.

■REVIEW

Written and oral review is done monthly to assess the English ability of the learner.

■RECOMMENDATION

Every six months, the performance of the learner is evaluated using a standard recommendation form. Feedback and guidance is then provided to the learner as to how he or she could further improve her English language skills.

■RECOGNITION

To acknowledge their efforts in studying English, a certificate of recognition is given to learners whenever they pass the mark for level elevation.

We have Special Courses specially suited for your need here at DCEC.

1. BUDDY LESSON (Two learners, one governess)

For those who don’t approve of one-on-one lesson, we suggest that they enroll in our Buddy Lesson. This lesson is meant for couples or parent and child who want to study the same English course. Alternatively, prospective learners can be matched with other learners who have a more or less similar level of English language skills.

2. COMPANY LESSON

We have very flexible types of courses for our company lesson. For company lessons, our Instructors will be dispatched to teach within company premises.

3. E-MAIL PACKAGE COURSE "English anywhere, anytime"

DCEC also offers an e-mail package course. In this course, the learner will be exchanging e-mail lessons with the Instructor. We give importance on how learners get used to the English language. There is nothing to be worried about writing an e-mail and you do not have to worry about the spelling. Progress is usually discernible after six months when you are already able to compose e-mails in less than ten minutes. You can send your e-mail from your PC or cell phone. Enjoy exchanging e-mails with your newfound non-Japanese friend in DCEC.

CUSTOMIZED PROGRAM "Tailor-fit just for you"

We also offer "tailor-fit” courses designed for those who have special needs and wants. This course is for doctors, people who work in restaurants, those who have problems communicating with their foreign customers, etc.

b. 20 HOURS OF STREET CORNER ENGLISH COURSE

There is now an increasing number of foreigners living and working in Japan and while some Japanese would like to communicate with them, some also preer to shy away from them, mainly because of the fear of talking in English. Similarly, this fear is preventing many Japanese from traveling overseas to see the world and broaden their horizons.

To illustrate, a store owner may become so nervous when a non-Japanese visits his shop. Hence, he may try his best to avoid having a conversation with the foreigner, knowing that communicating in English will be terribly difficult.

Another example is this: "Because of the nature of my job, many foreigners usually approach me. Instead of entertaining them, I tend to become indifferent or react naively to them. Although this is not intended, I still make them feel upset and unwelcome, nonetheless, and this definitely results a bad image of Japan and the company I work for."

For all these challenges, we urge you to come to Dela Cruz English Club so that we may be able to help you overcome these cross-cultural challenge of communicating in English.

Language learning becomes enjoyable when it is viewed as a means to communicate, and not as something to study. Committing mistakes is a natural part of acquiring another language and by starting how to speak English in daily life and familiar situations, you begin to know that English can help change a part of yourself for the better and motivate you to reach for your dreams.

DCEC Instructors are accomplished teachers or professionals with varied work experiences and advanced degrees. They are personable, friendly, and smart individuals who are eager to share their knowledge and skills in English with you.
